>Chris and I had a great Valentines Day this year. I got up a little early and made us some special organge/vanilla/cinnamon french toast and bacon. Can’t get any better than that!
After enjoying our breakfast together, Chris and I exchanged Valentines presents. He got me exactly what I asked for. Flowers, chocolates, and a nice card. Simple and sweet just the way I like it. The flowers he actually had delivered to my office on Friday, which was a wonderful surprise. And the chocolates were hand picked by him at the Godiva chocolate store. So delicious!
Chris loves to plant things and use his hands in the backyard. So this Valentines I bought him some fresh herbs to plant a herb garden.
It’s something we’ve both been wanting for a while now. We use fresh herbs all the time in our cooking and they can get a little expensive at the grocery store at times. We started out with Basil, Cilantro, and Oregano.
So after church, we headed over to Lowes to pick up our supplies to make a hand made planters box to put our new herbs in. We even sawed the pieces of wood ourselves and nailed on the hardware. It was fun!
Here is the box we Chris made
I can’t believe it took 7 large bags of potting soil to fill this baby up!
And here is our finished herb garden!
Isn’t it pretty! We’ll be adding more herbs to it a little later.
Chris and I have done all kinds of fun things on Valentines Day in the past. But I have to say that this Valentines Day was one of my favorites. There was just something really special about spending time in the beautiful sunshine with my husband, just hanging out and working in the soil, and enjoying God’s beautiful nature surrounding us. It was a bonding experience for sure.
After we finished with the garden, we cleaned up and headed out for a wonderful dinner. We drove out to Mesa to try out a Mexican place that we’ve never been to, but were sad to find out that they aren’t open on Sundays. No big deal though, we headed on over to the next best place, Abuelos! I love their food. We had a great time and a delicious dinner.
You didn’t think our night ended there though, did you?
What’s a Valentines Day without dessert! As we were driving home from Mesa, we decided to call in ahead at the cheesecake factory to order dessert to go. Can I just say that place was a complete mad house! It was insanley busy. But we got in and out in record time to get home and enjoy our carrot cake and white chocolate raspberry cheesecake. Can you guess who had what? lol
It was a wonderful Valentines Day and I’m so glad that I got to spend it with my very special someone.
